No matter what your budget, there is a feasible option for a business brochure. Photocopiers do well with strong black-and-white text, with graphics. A printer's offset press produces magnificent full-color brochures of all shapes and sizes.

There are lots of great reasons why you'd want to create a flier. Special offers, new business promotions . . .or just to let the world know you exist. . .are all perfectly valid reasons to circulate a flier.

Once you have a flier, why not put it on your Web site for others to download and print? Adobe's Acrobat Reader is a free program that reads the Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) used to save this brochure of the Fairmount Beach House (359 KB), which was designed to be printed out in small batches on a consumer printer.

Do warn your viewers they are downloading a printable version of your brochure; and, on slower connections, they need to be patient — it may take awhile.

Self-publish your book

The town of Petersburg, Alaska collected family stories and photos for Pioneer Profiles: A History of Petersburg Settlers (1898-1959) and asked me to do the design and layout.

The book is a wonderful legacy these families have created for the generations to come.

Newsletters

Turn your client database into a newsletter mailing list. Informed consumers make great clients. Keep them abreast of new market trends and the items they just have to have! Presented as interesting "newsy" items, in a print or e-mail newsletter format, the topics create much more interest than an obvious sales pitch.
